Tis' the Season!

Hasting was able to enjoy his first parade today! We didn't go last year because it was incredibly cold and I was over 8 months pregnant, and no way did I feel like going!

The parade started at 2, but we sat right at the end of it, dumb move. We didn't know they switched up the way the parade went. We thought it was the sam direction as the fourth of july parade, wrong. So although the parade started at 3, it didn't start for us until 3. So, needless to say, I had to keep Hasting somehow pre-occupied for a whole hour. Hardees cups/straws do amazing at that. Oh, and woven wraps too.

Hasting was excellent the whole time. He got bored towards the end, and got over-tired (and it cooled down a lot too). We were expecting the parade to only last 45mins-1hr, but it lasted from 2-5. We totally went diaperbagless thinking we'd be fine. Wrong. Well, we were fine, Hasting just needed a booty change. Luckily, we live not even 5 minutes away from the road the parade came down!
Children makes the Holidays so much more fun! Hasting will always be our little Christmas present, no matter how old he is! I look forward to making a ton of family traditions, and passing traditions down from both sides of the family!!
Next week: We talk birthday! Hasting's first birthday party will be celebrated next Saturday!!!

My Honest Answer

"Oh I'm in pieces, it's tearing me up, but I know a heart thats broke is a heart that's been loved"..."When God takes you back he'll sing hallelujah you're home". Today we went to church, for the first time since I'm not even sure when. It's also where we had the funeral of our son. We got in the car, and I wasn't sure how I was going to handle pulling back in to that church. I think it's partially why I was secretly hoping that when we DID return back to church it would be elsewhere. But, in all fairness, I've grown very fond of Pastor Daniel and the whole congregation of that church. So I decided not to speak up to my husband about visiting a different church, because I knew once we got inside I would be happy I chose to come back to one of the places we said our final goodbyes to our son. We pulled in, and my eyes did swell with tears, but I held them back. Flashbacks from the funeral just kept cre...

Setbacks Over Progress.

Tonight I was going through my phone, looking through old notes I had left myself in my phone. I noticed one from December 31, 2017. It was before 2018 hit us, and 10 days before our world started to  turn completely upside down.  It was a list of all the good things and accomplishments of 2017.  “Became pregnant with our fourth child”.  Just like that.  I remembered something I’ve been doing a LOT of recently. I’ve caught myself if the good moments, reflecting, but not in a good way. I look at old photos, from before Sadler, or before his pregnancy took a high risk turn, and I just bask in those moments of happiness. I try so hard to remember the happiness i felt in those photos. And just like that, hello guilt.  Almost 5 months has passed, and while there is no routine of how grief plays out, you begin to realize patterns and ways of how you deal and cope with all things associated with your grief. But as the time goes on, you start to notice thi...

My New Fav Go-To Baby Shower Gift - The Breastfeeding Support Basket

A friend of mine is expecting her first baby next month! I wanted to get her something special and meaningful. I knew she was planning to breastfeed, and since it is a topic very close to my heart, I thought a gift of things to make that journey easier for her would be special! I had a lot of fun putting it together too!  I remember what it was like when I had Hasting. Before he was born, I thought breastfeeding was something that just came natural. You just stick your child to the breast, and it was all hunky dory from there.. Easy right? Not necessarily for all new mommies. I missed out on the support that I really needed from others. Sure, I had the support of my husband. But like me, he was new at this breastfeeding thing too.. And it's not like it was something he studied. If I didn't, he surely didn't.  Support from other nursing mothers is one of the BIGESST backbones a new nursing mother can have. Breastfeeding support and help holds a big place in my heart. If it w...
