Our Rainbow is on the way!

What is a rainbow baby? A “ rainbow baby ” is a  baby  that is born following a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss.In the real world, a beautiful and bright  rainbow follows a storm and gives hope of things getting better. The  rainbow  is more appreciated having just experienced the storm in comparison." -sir google.  The day has finally come, (although longer than we had hoped for), and our rainbow baby is on his or her way. After the loss of Fischer last August, and a chemical pregnancy the following November, I began doubting my body and it's worth of ever producing again. I sank in to a minor depression without really realizing, and one day I finally woke up. After one irregular period after another, and multiple negative pregnancy tests, I decided to go in and see my midwife for testing. I cried when my results came back. My thyroid levels, as well as my progesterone levels were perfect. I was also FOR SURE ovulating.. So why wasn't I g

1-2-3 Magic and our first day using the system!

1-2-3 Magic: Effective Discipline for Children 2–12   is an evidence-based, easy-to-learn and effective parenting program for parents. 1-2-3 Magic System can be used with children as early as 18 months through 12 years.  1-2-3 Magic  is parents in charge, but no arguing, yelling or spanking is allowed. 1-2-3 Magic is the #1 selling child discipline book in the country, and the book itself has sold more than 1.5 million copies in 22 languages.  1-2-3 Magic   produces results quickly , and its power comes from the fact that it is   the only parenting program based on the fact that moms and dads talk too much!  You will learn how silence speaks louder than words. (Www.123magic.com)  I discovered 123 Magic from a friend of mine. She implemented it in her classroom as well as with her daughter. After begging and crying out for help with discipline for Hasting, she told me about this book. I don't do discipline well, especially given my past. I don't believe in spanking for the sole

Fridge Snack drawer for the kids!

So recently my kids eat like they're dinosaurs or some rather large animal.  And it isn't stopping.  They're basically hungry all the time (or it seems like it at least). I have felt like I'm literally in the kitchen for all eternity either cooking a meal or getting snacks for forever starving children.  So, enter the "cool" bin. A drawer in the fridge where they can grab a snack and not annoy me for days about it. It keeps them happy, and healthy. So, instead of coming straight to my bed at 7am and saying "mommy get up, I'm hungry", I can say "go grab a Baggie from your drawer", and still have a couple more seconds to collect myself and possibly go pee...alone.  COUPLE OF TIPS:  1. HAVE VARIETY!!: Snacks we use: --sliced apples (soaked in lemon juice water for 5-10 minutes to prevent browning!) --sliced oranges  --organic apple sauce pouches  --organic baby carrots  --berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries)  --melons (watermelo

DIY ok to wake clock!

Recently, I added an "OK to wake" clock in my Amazon shopping cart. Hasting needs help determining when the time is appropriate for him to wake, and when it's appropriate for him to come out of his room. Some days it's normal hours, others, not so much. I need time to myself to start my day. I've been wanting to wake around 6am myself, have time to make (and enjoy) a HOT cup of coffee, meditate, complete some morning yoga, and talk to Jesus. BUT , with a kid thinking it's ok to take over my space at 6am, I haven't been able to even START that sort of routine.  A while back a friend had talked about a DIY "ok to wake" clock. Up until now, I had shoved the idea off, and wanted to just buy one because they seemed cooler, lit up, and played cool noises. But, I quickly discovered they're $30. So, I decided since I had all I needed to do the DIY clock, why not give it a whirl first, seeing as I love being thrifty and like saving money and all. So,

Turning my nose up to conventional deodorant

Seizures. Breast Canver. Alzheimer's. Kidney problems. Bone formation issues. Those are all scary things. And things you can be susceptible to with conventional deodorants.  Switching to natural deodorant isn't an overnight thing. You don't just wake up and smell good. My first attempt of using natural deodorant was an epic fail. I stopped using my Secret and went straight to Toms. My pits hated me. I smelled like a dumpster, and the deodorant I used caused my pits to burn and breakout. Probably the baking soda.  I'm a firm believer that making the switch is a trial and error for each person. What works for me may not work for you, and vice versa. Couple tips: 1. Arm yourself with knowledge The product you’re using every day likely has some not-so-great ingredients. Parabens, phthalates, aluminum and more, all which, over time and with consistent use, may increase allergies,    sensitivities, and disease. The science isn’t perfect, but there is enough to be concerned th

Paleo tuna cakes!

As of yesterday, Our family has decided to go Paleo. I'll post the "why" in my next blog. We were already Paleo-ish, so we've tried this recipe before. Tuna cakes is one of my favorite this recipe I like because it adds more flavor.  It calls for Almond flour but I'm currently out so I just doubled up on the coconut flour. I also left out the Redpepper flakes since I'm serving these to my kids. It's cheap, it's easy, and my kids think it's chicken haha!  Ingredient's: (I always double to make enough for lunch the following day!) – 2 5-oz cans good quality tuna – 2 eggs – 2 Tbsp almond flour – 2 Tbsp coconut flour – 1 Tbsp lemon juice – 1 tsp mustard – 1 tsp garlic powder – 1 tsp onion powder – 2 pinches cayenne powder – salt and pepper to taste – oil for cooking (I use avocado oil, for added fat).  Mix together all ingredients in a large bowl until well combined.  Form mixture into parties. I do smaller ones, so I get quite a few. Not sure how

Favors for Fischer!

We lost a child, vis miscarriage early August.  As her due date approaches, I have been thinking of how I can celebrate the life she would have had, and a way to help continue a healthy healing process, and also a way that would impact our community as well!  Fischer would have been due on February 9, 2016, and would have been our third child. I want this day to be a day full of happiness, not a day full of sadness. So with that being said, I have created {Favors for Fischer}. I am asking that in honor of our sweet Fischer, you reach out to someone (or something), and complete one random act of kindness. Once you've completed your act, please come back to this page and tell us about it! I'd love a day full of smiles and love, and to know that the gift of happiness was created for someone in honor of our daughter.  Please share this. My hope is that it reaches people all over the world, and that somewhere, someone gets a smile on their face from a random act of kindness.  ❤️
