Essential Oils! Why we choose DoTERRA and how to order (made simple for you!)

There has been some interest from family and friends about my DoTERRA oils and why I chose them, as well as how I use them. So I have decided to write out a pretty detailed blog post for everyone to have as a reference :)

About 2 years ago is when I decided to venture out and start using  a more homeopathic approach to medicine and healing. Basically, after Hasting was about 5 months old. I wanted a solution to all of the coughs, runny noses, poop problems, stomach issues, etc etc, and I DIDN'T want it to be a doctor prescribing my small little baby a prescription. Not just that either. I was tired of taking my child in to get diagnosed for something (which indeed typically led to a pharmaceutical drug), and him being even more susceptible to catching something even WORSE in the doctors office (not including compromising my immune system at the same time). I've never really battled with health issues, BUT I will say that I suffer from EXTREME allergies year-round. Prescription drugs weren't cutting it, and after researching prescription drugs (and reading articles describing intensely scary side-effects), I decided to look elsewhere. I wanted to be in charge of my own health, not some doctor who is paid even more to write out a prescription which by the way could potentially harm me more than help me.  How many times have you been sick and left the doctor’s office with a prescription for antibiotics? How many times have you struggled with acid reflux and left with a pill to fix it? Taking so many pills stresses the liver, but the problem is that you cannot stop taking the pills or the symptoms come back. Instead of  looking at the symptoms, let’s begin to look to nature for the answer.

So I turned to essential oils, but not DoTERRA. I found Aurora Cacia, which is found at Whole Foods. I stared making my own cleaning products, using it for everyday things like headaches, burns, itchiness, sleep aid, and I felt no different. It wasn't until I became pregnant with our second that I tried DoTERRA for the first time. A friend of mine had signed up and tossed me a few samples, and made me a calming blend for my son. I noticed immediate results for my allergies, and for my son as well. My blend would immediately lift my mood, and would settle me in times of anxiousness or anxiety. They were really working! At the time I didn't have the funds to really pour in to oils, so I just fell back in to struggling for a while. Finally, right before our daughter was born I had enough. I had one of the worst sinus infections ever. One of my doulas threw me a sample together of Breathe, and it was like heaven in a little bottle. From there I was seriously hooked.

Our daughter was born, and the struggle was real. I had two kids, 24 months apart, and felt like I was eating my placenta pills like a train smoker smokes cigarettes. Legit. Our daughter had colic, I was restless, my son was diagnosed with sensory overload, and my husband was rarely home because of work and school. I was over-loaded. I needed help. I attended a party a friend of  mine hosted, and I took the plunge. I signed up, ordered A la Carte, and here I am...surviving life and motherhood with my miracle oils. I'm making money (for more oils and all my baby carriers of course haha) and living happy.

SO..WHY ESSENTIAL OILS?

Essential oils are an emerging category of wellness products that provide a natural alternative to healthcare. If you are concerned about using synthetic drugs and would like to try a natural solution before visiting the doctor, then essential oils are a great option!
Essential oils are 100% natural, and come from plants. Their role is to protect plants from bacteria and fungus, deter insects, and slow decay. To extract essential oils, plant material is steam distilled at exact temp and pressure. The resulting essential oil contains powerful properties. They have a clean feel and are quickly absorbed in to the skin.
DōTERRA essential oils are Certified Therapeutic Grade oils. They contain zero fillers, pesticides, chemicals, or artificial ingredients. They work quickly, and are safe and effective for all ages. They relieve pain, soothe emotions, and are effective against virus and bacteria. They have no side effects, and are non-habit forming.
Essential oils may be used Aromatically (inhaled or diffused), Topically (directly on), or Internally (capsule, under the tongue, in water, or added to recipes)!
There are so many uses to essential oils. They offer fast, effective relief for acne, allergies, asthma, burns, candida, cough, emotion issues, flu, headaches, hormone imbalance, insomnia, mental clarity, pain, sore throat, stomach issues, viruses, and so much more!
Like I said earlier, I wasn't seeing result with other companies, so I dug in to DoTERRA. They test all of their oils in 5 different ways. May sound a little excessive, but it's extremely important for constructing superior products! I also discovered that DoTERRA work with local farmers in the plants indigenous locations to grow their plants. They harvest the materials and distill them right there. They work very closely with their farmers and distillers to ensure that the plants are grown to specification, harvested at peak and distilled properly. Major awesomeness.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do you use essential oils?
  • Aromatically - Our sense of smell influences many physiological pathways in our body. Breathing in a pure essential oil by way of diffusing, can purify the air, promote emotional benefits to our body, and eliminate odors and airborne pathogens.
  • Topically -  doTERRA oils have a immediate, localized benefit by restoring or calming our body. The chemical structure of essential oils allows them to be absorbed into the bloodstream via the skin for internal benefit throughout the body.
  • Internally - doTERRA oils can be used as dietary supplements supporting a variety of healthy conditions. Some oils have powerful antioxidant properties. Some help support healthy inflammatory response in cells (Do not use an essential oil internally that does NOT have the appropriate dietary supplement facts on it’s label – doTERRA oils do!).

Why ARE doTERRA oils more expensive than some other brands you can buy at the store?
When it comes to essential oils, you get what you pay for. Most store-bought essential oils are not put through the testing like doTERRA oils are. Plus, there usually is a warning on the label not to take them internally. No thank you!

Is there a monthly order minimum?

Nope. You do not need to have a monthly order to benefit from being a Wellness Advocate, Preferred Member or a retail customer. Wellness Advocates pay a $35 annual membership fee and Preferred Members pay a $10 fee.

I don’t really want to sell essential oils. Do I have to sell doTERRA products to be a Wellness Advocate or Preferred Member?

Of course not! Since there is no monthly order requirement you can just order whenever your family needs it. There is no requirement to have a business.

What do I need to get started?
To begin as an Wellness Advocate you start by purchasing an Enrollment Kit. There are several options to choose from depending on your budget. I highly recommend the Family Wellness Kit or the Home Essentials kit. Even if you have no intention of ever selling the oils to others, becoming a Wellness Advocate is still a great option. There are no minimums or quotas you must meet– and no one is going to pressure you to sell product or have “parties” if you aren’t interested in that aspect.

Plans may Fail, but God doesn't

I have decided to not go in to much depth about the passing of Sadler, but I do want to write about it. Writing is very healing for me. The following blog speaks of infant death, please only read at your discretion. Sadler's tiny body reacted negatively to the surfactant that was administered to him to help with the maturity of his lungs. His vitals were stable, until he was given the first dose of those steroids. The first call to come down to the NICU was terrifying. What's even more terrifying is walking in to the nursing staff and the neonatologist reviving your child. Chest compressions and intubation. Stats dropping to a low, low. Loud noises from machines going off. Sitting there, unable to do anything as your child lays there helpless and lifeless. The hospital chaplain approaches and asks if we would like to pray, and of course being a family of faith we do. We cry, and we pray. We pray, and we cry. I text my best friend, Shannon, and asked that she

VBAC Birth Plan

It has been over a year since I last sat down with my laptop for a blog. A LOT has happened. Most people who read these blogs are people who keep up with me frequently, so I won't bore you with some excessively long post about what we've been up to. The biggest thing though, is that we are expecting again! And we are only a little less than 2 weeks away from the delivery of our baby GIRL. I thought I would want to sit down and blog all about pregnancy after loss, and all the highs and lows that come with it. But the truth is, I've just really enjoyed being a little bit more low key with it. We've decided she is our last baby, and my husband took permanent measure to ensure that (love you babe). We announced the pregnancy publicly via social media after we found the gender out around 15 or 16 weeks.  I am planning to have a natural VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), with the hospital that we delivered Sadler at, which is also where Hasting was born

The Natural VBAC Birth of Daragh Wren

On Saturday morning, 12/14, I started having slight bloody show. I also had frequent bowel movements, which can be a sign that labor is near. I continued the day cleaning house, and doing all my normal daily routines. Saturday night, I ended up not getting any sleep. I slept for about an hour. I was having irregular, pretty strong contractions, that kept me up. However, I knew it wasn’t true labor.  Sunday morning, 12/15, I decided to call Chad’s mom and ask her if instead of taking the kids to church, if she would come to our house and sit with them. Because of the intensity of my contractions, I wanted to get out and walk. She came over, and Chad and I went to Aldi and got groceries, and brought them home. We left again and went out to the mall. We had lunch, and then we walked the mall down and back. When I got back, I did a PARTIAL miles circuit, and got on my ball doing a few different exercises to help baby descend. Chad’s mom left, and I got in bed. Around 10pm I noticed
