Hasting's Minion 4th birthday party

This past Saturday we got to get together with our friends and family and celebrate the life of our oldest. He turns 4 tomorrow, and I can't believe how quickly time has surpassed us.  Hasting has a slight obsession with Minions and Star Wars (we aren't really sure where the whole Star Wars obsession is from. Neither one of us have seen any of the movies really). He decided on a minion theme, so I rolled with it!  We really enjoyed celebrating Hasting, and were so thankful for everyone who came out and made Hasting's day so special!

My first real attempt at a decent semi-formal up-do: December 9-- 5 months old! Our decision to go Gluten Free

It's an entire lifestyle change.  But one that needed to be dealt with now. In both the kids and us as parents.  For about a year on and off, Chad dealt with some pretty severe internal gut issues. We were going to Doctor after doctor and leaving with zero results. At one point, doctors believed he was battling giardia, but tests said otherwise. He was tested for celiac, but that too came back negative.  But you see, there's a fine line difference between Celiac Disease and a gluten intolerance. C eliac disease is the most severe form of gluten intolerance. Celiac disease is a condition that causes an immune system reaction when an individual consumes food containing gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye and barley.  Milder forms of gluten intolerance occur independently and cannot be diagnosed with blood tests or a small intestine biopsy, (tissue sample), the way celiac can be.  So, with all that, finally, a little bubble popped up in my head. (A long time ago). We tried going

3 month dread update with Vlog!

It's month 3 with my second set of dreadlocks! Since my last update I've had my hair colored, they're locking up nicely, and I've had VERY minimal shrinking! I do still have loose hairs, and I have a crazy Congo which I forgot to add to my video. Maybe I'll add a photo later for you (when I don't have a sleeping child on me!) Anyways, check out my video update  HERE ! See ya next month! September 7 September 24 October 1 First deep cleanse October 3 Hello red! October 5!

Natural Cough Drops

We are trying to keep our medicine cabinets a little more on the natural side this year. Between salves, tinctures, essential oils, and natural healing condiments I think we will be pretty set!  I've never tried these before, but I'm hoping they work!  ABOUT THE INGREDIENTS: Raw Honey   – Known to naturally suppress coughing and help with sleeping due to respiratory infections .   In clinical studies, honey has shown to be just as effective in alleviating coughs as over the counter cough medicine. Honey is also known to help reduce allergies. Also,  taking a few teaspoons of local raw honey a day prior to pollen season can be effective in boosting your immunity to pollen! Coconut Oil  – This healthy fat  is rich in antioxidants and contains lauric acid, which is antibacterial and antiviral. Coconut oil can be used to help prevent colds by boosting the immune system. Once the cold is set in, coconut oil can help reduce the length of sickness and can be quite soothing when added

No Bake Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Balls

You will need:  3/4 cup quick oats (60g) 1/2 cup oat flour (or make your own by blending oats in a food processor until they become powder. Measure after blending.) (75g) 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp baking soda 1/4 cup xylitol or sugar (or coconut sugar or sucanat) (55g) 1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional: a pinch pumpkin pie spice as well) optional: handful mini chocolate chips 1/3 cup canned pumpkin (or sweet potato puree) (80g) 2 to 2 1/2 tablespoons milk of choice, as needed 1 tablespoon oil (omit if you desire, but I can’t vouch for the results) 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract Instructions: Combine all dry ingredients and stir very well. In a separate bowl, combine all liquid (including pumpkin). Then stir to combine, and form into balls or cookies. Or put in the fridge to firm up a little before forming cookies.

Lego stamped pumpkin art!

We have tons of Legos, and Hasting loves playing with Legos.  So since it's September, I like to start our fall crafting ASAP.  Today it was this!  Annestyne even enjoyed it too. Of course, she was a tad messier than her brother.  You'll need:  3 Legos  Paint (Orange, green, brown)  White paper Scissors  I provided the paper, paint, and Legos. I used 3 different sheets of paper, otherwise hasting would have gotten crazy and did all 3 colors on top of one another!  Once finished, I let them dry and just used the scissors to cut the pumpkin, leave, and stem out. (If your child is older they can cut their own. But we are still working on using scissors in this house).  And Hasting with his finished product! He really enjoyed this one! So if you have a Lego lover, try this! You could also do a corn stalk too! But we like pumpkins here!!
